These days, people are using diesel engines more and more. This is largely due to the fact that oil and fuel prices are rising steadily and on a regular basis. As a result, people who drive unleaded gas, premium gas, or other non-diesel run cars are looking for alternatives that can help save them money. One of the oldest and most basic alternatives to gasoline is using diesel engines in cars.

Diesel engines in cars are a good way to save money on fuel. Driving a car with a diesel engine means that you save money on gas. This is because diesel fuel has more fuel economy than gasoline. Cars running on diesel are able to go farther on one tank of diesel fuel compared to one tank of gasoline. In addition, the price of diesel fuel is generally cheaper compared to the price of gasoline. The exceptions for this are usually in places where the standards for fuel emissions are high and/or taxes are imposed on the sale of diesel fuel. These factors drive up the cost of diesel fuel.

As of today, many car production companies and manufacturers offer diesel powered cars. They are pretty common in Europe wherein the emissions of diesel fuel are a lot cleaner, and many would be surprised to find out that a lot Mercedez Benz and BMW cars in Europe run on diesel fuel. It's a different story in the United States, though, as the major supply of the diesel there is dirty and contain a lot of pollutants such as sulfur. The government recently implemented rules, though, that require diesel fuel users in the United States to meet strict emission standards. If these standards are met, and are successfully done in the United States, then the number of diesel powered cars used in the United States may increase in number.
