Although Haley loved her adoptive parents as much as any child ever loved his or her natural parents, she still had an empty place inside which would only be filled when she knew who had been responsible for bringing her into the world. Haley had spent much of her adult life trying to trace her birth parents, but aided only by the names of her biological mother and the city in which she was born, she had very little hope of success.
The adoption agency that her adoptive parents went through was unwilling to provide her with any other information. She searched and searched the internet and the name of her mother. She couldn't find any information anywhere. She had started to think that perhaps she would never find out who her birth parents were. She had so many questions to ask them.
She wanted to look at them and see if she could find a resemblance. She wanted to know the reasons that she was put up for adoption and she wanted to thank them for giving her the opportunity to have the life that she had led with her beloved adoptive parents.
She just couldn't get over the need to talk to them, to see them, to at least know that they were alive and where they were. Haley gave up for a while because she was out of resources and out of leads. However, upon another trip to the adoption agency, she found that there was a new girl working.
Once again Ashley thought she was in for a disappointment, as the new woman interrupted before she had completed her question about getting more information on her birth parents. The woman repeated what Ashley already knew, that the adoption agency was not at liberty to reveal anything about them.
But then Haley was taken completely by surprise. The adoption agency staffer told her that while the agency couldn't answer her questions, there was a website which could help her locate her birth parents. With the site's URL hastily scribbled on a scrap of paper, Haley rushed home and immediately logged onto the site, which was a reverse records website. She anxiously typed her biological mother's name into the search box.
In less time than she could imagine, her years of searching were over. The website instantly brought up a current address, and even a telephone number, and Ashley with a few keystrokes and the help of this website, now knew where her birth mother was, and could even contact her by phone!
After taking time to gather her thoughts, Ashley nervously dialed the telephone number. She heard a woman's voice at the other end, and hesitantly said, "Hello, I'm Ashley and I'm and adoptee searching for my birth parents. Your name is the same as my birth mom's and I wondered if you surrendered your baby girl for adoption twenty-eight years ago."
Ashley heard only silence for seconds, but the woman didn't hang up, and then she quietly began sobbing. Ashley knew her struggle had at last borne fruit, and that she actually was speaking with the woman who had brought her into the world. Today Ashley not only knows and loves her birth mother, but has the joy of an extended family of half-brothers and sisters.
Although Haley's biological dad has not yet met her, she did locate him through the website and has spoken to him a few times. Haley now has a loving extended family, all thanks to the adoption agency staffer who pointed her to that webiste!
