The amount of absorbable calcium you ingest is different from the actual amount of calcium you ingest and this is a very important thing to know when it comes to your health. For many people the amount of mineral that they take into their body on a daily basis is far below what is required for an optimum health. Over the last few decades the an importance of the ratio of calcium to magnesium in the human body has been stressed. There have been many report of the an ideal ratio in regard to cardiac wellness being two to one which is the natural ratio of coral calcium.
When you take a coral calcium supplement, you get not only calcium but a host of other minerals as well. Studies have been done to compare the absorption of calcium by the human body from different sources. These sources include marine-based coral calcium as well as calcium derive from milk, cow bone and regular calcium supplements
In one of the studies regarding calcium absorption several groups of animals were studied. Each group was given different types of absorbable calcium with their regular feed for one month. These feeding experiments were very carefully controlled ,so they would bring out very accurate results. Periodically the calcium and magnesium levels in the bodies of the animals were measured by checking their organs and blood. The study was mainly focused on finding out the role of the calcium and magnesium ratio pertaining to heart disease prevention.
The coral calcium group was shown to have higher amounts of calcium in their bodies . So, this means that coral calcium was shown to be more highly absorbable. The conclusion was that natural coral calcium promoted more calcium over the entire body - not just elevated blood levels.
It was found that this was better absorbed than milk calcium, bone derived calcium or traditional mineral types of calcium. It was also observed that this controlled group of animals which was given natural coral calcium with their regular feed had a higher level of HDL cholesterol. This is a good cholesterol, and hence the value of natural coral calcium was realized.
While this study was not done on humans, it does seem to prove that the most absorbable calcium is coral calcium. That combined with the fact that it has the perfect ration of calcium and magnesium as well as a host of other trace minerals is good news for your health indeed!
