It's awful having hemroids - they hurt, they're unpredictable, and it's humiliating to go to the doctor for advice. Here are several steps you can take in treating your hemroids right now.

Preventing hemroid flare ups is as important as treating them when they do occur. Check the list below and make sure you're not doing any of the following:

* Eating spicy foods or caffeine, alcohol and nuts

* Rubbing after using the toilet, or wiping too hard

* When on the toilet, straining or pushing

* Standing or sitting in the same place for long periods of time. Try to move or shift your position.

Everything in the list above will make your hemroids worse, so stop doing them if you are. Next, we'll look at wasy of eating that can help improve your hemroids.

* Don't eat any of the foods listed above or any other foods you notice that cause your piles to get worse

* Include a healthy dose of fiber in your diet. This will make it less likely you'll strain at the toilet.

* Consume at a minimum 8 glasses of water each day so your bowel movements are softer.

If your hemroid symptoms worsen, make sure you treat them as soon as possible. Left untreated, hemroids will only get worse.

You'll find over the counter medicines available from the drugstore a common first stop when people are trying to treat their hemroids. these include Tucks medicated pads and Preparation H suppositories. However, they are only recommended for a few days use, not for extended amounts of time.

Instead, consider hydrocortisone creams. These are anti-inflammatories, so they'll help bring your hemroids down.

You'll find a zinc oxide cream, like that in diaper rash medicines, to be very cooling. They'll help with immediate reduction in pain.

Pain relieve sprays that numb the skin are available at drugstores too.

Like I've said, don't wipe or rub the area after a bowel movement. Instead, pat it down gently, perhaps using baby wipes.

The numbing and decrease of swelling caused by icing the area for 10 minutes is a great way to relieve pain, and can be done several times per day. Sitz baths are another option. Simply laying down to prevent muscle strtain is a good idea too if your hemroids are very bad.

Always wear cotton underwear to wick away moisture. Don't use any products with coloring dyes or perfumes that will make the tissue inflame further.

Incorporating these tips into your routine will surely help you with your hemroid treatment, but always check with a doctor before starting any new medical procedures.
