Please note, the following procedures are based on personal experience and research, theses methods are provided for information purposes only, you should always consult your doctor prior to using any alternative or complimentary methods of treatment.

The Quickest way I found to relieve gout attacks;

Use the medication your doctor has prescribed for treating your gout attacks. If this is your first attack or if you do not have any prescribed medication to treat your gout you can use an over-the-counter NSAID (non steroid anti inflammatory drug)such as Ibuprofen, although not as strong, when combined with one of the following tips, will work just as well.

Recommended dosage for treating acute gout attacks.

Take 800 mg of Ibuprofen four times a day (do not use more than this)

Reduce the dosage as the attack subsides.

See your doctor or visit a hospital as soon as possible for an injection of steroid or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), to quickly relieve the pain.

Remove the shoes, socks, or tight clothing from the attack area and avoid any stress or pressure on them.

Apply an anesthetic numbing spray, cream or lotion to the affected area, which will help to numb the pain, (such products can be purchased easily over the counter from any chemist, drug store).

Do not use aspirin throughout an attack of gout as they will make the gout worse.

Avoid all alcohol, any acidic foods and drinks, a low carb diet,orange juice,tomatoes,citrus fruits, red meat as they will make the condition worse and in many cases prolong the gout attack.

Drink at least 2 liters of alkaline water,(mineral) with a pH level of 7 daily.

Alkalize the body and increase the blood PH level to around 7, do this by mixing half a teaspoon of baking soda to a medium sized glass of mineral water and drink every 4 hours up to a maximum of 4 glasses per day. Baking soda, is the quickest way of alkalizing your body and also accelerates the urinary excretion of excess uric acid. Baking soda is also known to increases the effectiveness of NSAIDs. Avoid using any other forms of salt while using baking soda due to its high sodium content.

Remember to get your doctor's approval before trying this.

Use ice to cool the effected joint & reduce swelling and pain.

Rest joint until gout is completely gone, premature use of the affected joint may prolong or bring back the attack.

Find out as much as you can about your gout condition to prevent and treat future attacks. Be prepared, gout often starts without warning. These methods are designed to tackle an acute and unbearable attack and are not the best way of treating and preventing gout in the long term
