The soaring gas prices or gas crisis as some are calling it, have caused me to research alternative fuel options. Let's face the fact that the prices are not going to decrease anytime soon. Car dealerships are actually using cheap gas as an incentive to purchase a new car. That's a little troubling. When I moved to GA in 2000, I remember being excited about the gas being .15 cents cheaper than in northeast where I migrated from. At the time I drove a small two door Toyota and still tell people of the day I filled up my tank for $11.00! Those days are long gone.
The not so distant past has shown us the steady increase in gas prices. There still wasn't the great need for panic no pressing desire to use alternative fuel sources on a large scale. Of course hybrids were in production and going green was spoken of, but not anything like now. Even those who complained and fussed about the prices didn't start immediately search ways to increase gas mileage. There is a new need for an alternative to gas car. When the most popular travel season hits and gas prices are over four bucks a gallon take note of the buzz for better ways to increase mpg.
I would love to ride a bike to work or walk but like I mentioned, it's 40 miles. Public transportation would save money but the inconvenience of having to re-schedule my day for the stops that are made aren't good since my work schedule can change on a whim. Buying a new hybrid car is not in the current budget. So that brings me to my newest discovery. Convert my car to a hybrid and use a water powered engine. Initially I laughed when my mechanic told me about this 'water car' concept.

The diagrams and instructions seemed easy enough to follow but I would never hear the end of it from my wife if I messed up the car engine. The conversion is 100% reversible if for some reason you need to switch back.

High gas prices are driving everyone to think about the amount of waste we produce.
