People all over are learning how to make soap at home. It is easier than you might think. If you have the space to make a soapy mess then it is well worth it to make it the center piece of a gift basket.

Soap is a chemical reaction of fat combining with lye. Some of you may remember making lye soap. If you do then you are pretty old because it is not commonly used anymore. Making soap at home was not a hobby way back then but a necessity.

Supplies are not complicated or that hard to find. Just look on the internet and you will find a complete list. Use stainless steel when you have a choice. You will need spoons, whisks, pots, bowls and the like. You'll need an oil like coconut or olive oil for example.

Adding a sweet fragrance to your soap makes it uniquely yours and is a luxurious touch. Make sure that the people you intend it for are not allergic. That would be a disaster.

You can add bath oil beads to the basket along with the soap and scrubby devices too. A back scrubber is always nice along with a buffing sponge.

Do a little homework and find out what colors their bathroom is in. That way you can match your soap making batch to their home making that much more special. It will show your friend that you took the extra time to check out their home and do soemthing that was special.

The occasion to use your hand made soap baskets will present themselves all the time and you will be ready. A welcome to the neighborhood can receive one of your lovely hand made soap baskets instead of a tin of drug store cookies. Bring a nicely filled baskets to a baby shower, birthday party or house warming. Don't miss any opportunity to show off you hand made soap making talents.
