Giving Of Yourself Makes Sense

When we are trying to work towards some goal or success, it can be difficult to remove our focused perspective. So often, we talk about nothing but our dreams and how we will reach them. This is a good thing when you're trying to establish your ideas, but after a while, your loving friends and family may want you to change the subject to something else. Taking the focus off of yourself from time to time can give you perspective while also giving your friends and family something else to listen to.
Why It's Not All About You
Though you might be making changes for yourself and for your life, you need to recognize that in making yourself better, you have more to give to others. Think about it, is there someone in your life that gave of themselves for you and thus motivated you to do more? Chances are this is true. Think of this concept as sort of the 'pay it forward' of your goal seeking. The more you give to others, the more you will actually be giving to yourself. You will become more confident and more open to new opportunities because you're not limiting everything to just what you want from life.
Volunteering
The best way to give of your time is to find a place at which to volunteer. You can talk to your local heath care organizations, for example, or to the United Way and other related organizations. By calling around to several areas, you can see what kinds of needs they have and how you might be suitable for those needs. You don't have to donate a lot of your time either. Just a few hours a week can mean the world to the organization and to yourself. If you can, try volunteering a few times a month at least as this will help you reap the most 'rewards' from the process.
Mentoring
Wouldn't it have been nice for you to have some guidance as you began to reach for your dreams? By becoming a mentor, you can provide this help to someone else. Whether this is a person you know at work or in your field or if you sign up for a mentoring program, you will make an impact on someone else. In turn, you might find yourself motivated by their success and change the route of your own personal journey.
Simple Ways to Give
Even if you don't have a lot of time, you want to try to find ways to help others in your everyday life. This could be as simple as running errands for a neighbor or opening the door for someone. Each of these good deeds adds up to more energy for yourself and more positive thoughts for the rest of your day.
By giving of your time and your talents, you can spread the positive energy of your life. Instead of simply thinking that it's all about you, think about the fact that there are thousands of people out there like you - and you have something to share with them now.
